STARSHIP FREEDOM — The starship Freedom is just a museum ship... until the aliens attack.
MINTARI -- Dinosaurs. Majestic giants. They've captured our imagination for generations. On planet Mintari, they live again.
REQUIEM -- Welcome to Requiem, an ancient kingdom whose people can grow wings and scales, breathe fire, and take flight as dragons. Start reading with Requiem's Song.
KINGDOMS OF SAND -- Enter a world of sand and splendor, a world where gladiators battle in the arena, where legionaries and barbarians fight for glory, and where empires rise and fall. Start reading with Kings of Ruin.
MOTH -- Discover Moth, a world torn between day and night--its one half drenched in eternal daylight, the other cloaked in endless darkness.

Figaro, learning to live as a human after living as a dinosaur for most of her 16 years. Even language is difficult after only howling and grunting. She was fluent in "Dino" but her mouth wasn't used to making the sounds of speech. She was very small for her age and was bullied mercilessly, especially by a "Rex" daughter. Her father was mayor and she and her pack found an easy target in Figaro. Anger and frustration were driving Figaro crazy! Not the greatest idea against a girl who though she was a dinosaur! Even Simone is feeling the separation from Joe, with her career on hiatus.
With an amazing cast of people and dinosaurs, a complex and moving storyline, set in a grand planet where the fiercest creatures ever lived are live again, and the words crafted by a master storyteller, this book is a fantastic read!
Meanwhile, Amissa and her "Hell Hunters" have attacked Dinovia and killed or wounded much of the population, destroying homes and defenses. Even Joe was wounded when Amissa shot him in the leg! Something has to give, and soon!
Casualties -- far amped in number over the first book in this series -- were jarringly morbid "just deserts," the result of attempts to treat an uncontrollable biome as a leisurely backdrop for profit. But some of the carnage also paralleled the horrors of real-life poaching.
This novel was an enjoyable escape for me. Of course, I found it best to have read Book One beforehand. I will admit, hardest for me were the scenes of bullying and corporal discipline at school. Nonetheless, I stuck to the tale and ended up rewarded... in a grim manner of payback.
I detected inspiration from the movies "Jurassic Park," "Jurassic World," and "Avatar." The novel even had its own Helm's Deep, of sorts.
Incidentally, in a race hearkening to "Star Wars, Episode One," one racer had a conspicuous moniker, one that could be deemed politically incorrect. I chose to interpret it as an indictment of the elite among the story's space colonizers, who've neglected Earth's history and prioritized their drive to entertain.
